The bowl game previews are starting to focus on individual players, though AP's coverage of Nebraska's pre-bowl press conference does note that coach Bill Callahan sees this game a quite the building block for his program.
The Huskers, which had a streak of 35 straight bowl appearances snapped last year in Callahan's first season, are coming off their best performance of season, beating Colorado, 30-3.
The Omaha World-Herald has a couple of Michigan-focused stories:
- Michigan bowl streak keeps rolling
- Soph likes QB tradition at Michigan
- Mixed feelings in Michigan
As a half-foot of snow blankets the Michigan campus, the Wolverine faithful struggle with what to think about the school's 31st consecutive bowl appearance - which became the NCAA's longest active streak when Nebraska's 35-year run ended in 2004.
But back to the player features: highly-touted quarterback Harrison Beck gets a look in the World-Herald (which also notes that Michigan's Michael Hart should be healthy).
The Lincoln Journal-Star takes a look at the Huskers' young offensive tackles and the senior nose tackle. The Grand Island Independent has copious quotes from the hometown boy who is the starting center. (Yes, they love to cover the lines in Nebraska.)
But, it's still about winning (or at least fund-raising): NU focus for bowl is business before fun
Oh, and Gabe Edelson has decided to blame the uniforms for Michigan's sub-par season. Only after ruling out various members of the offense, defense and coaching staff. It *obviously* wasn't their fault.
