It's a game of tradition-rich programs, a game people have been waiting eight years for, a game that features two coaches blah, blah, blah. It's a December bowl game on cable. But for one team its a step up, a step back toward rebuilding. For the other, its a step backward after some disappointments in an injury-riddled year.

The Wolverines last played in the Alamo Bowl after the 1995 season, Lloyd Carr's first as head coach."My recollection is that San Antonio is a great city and the players had a great time," said Carr, whose team lost to Texas A&M in that bowl game.
DFP: Alamo matchup: U-M vs. Nebraska
Both teams enter the game 7-4 but from different perspectives. While the Wolverines settled for the Alamo after a 25-21 loss to Ohio State on Nov. 19, Nebraska is entering on a two-game winning streak after edging Kansas State and then whipping Colorado, 30-3, on Nov. 25.
