Changeups, 94 mph and otherwise

» Posted by Jon on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 10:57pm | Comments (0)

Maybe this new bullpen will work out o.k. With people still buzzing about Fernando Rodney’s three-inning performance and raving about his changeup, new closer Kyle Farnsworth might be working on one too.

“Any changeup over 90 mph isn’t really a changeup. He doesn’t use it to change speeds. He uses it to locate better,” said pitching coach Bob Cluck.

Yeah, anything clocked at 94 is pretty much not an off speed pitch. And it’s not much of a change from the usual triple-digit heater he flings up there.

In any case, he struck out the side in the 9th to preserve a second win in a row.
