Management has decided to exercise its option on manager Alan Trammell for the 2006 season, giving him two more years to build on the quite-misleading 29-game improvement over his first two seasons. And despite the progress, a number of people are still quite negative.

And now for the negativism (Honestly guys, don’t you think everybody knows there are things that need fixing? Do we need this trenchant analysis now? No reflecting on positives at all? C’mon, try to enjoy your summer.)
- Tigers’ improvement shouldn’t be applauded
- Tigers need to fix bullpen, outfield before mending pitching rotation
- DREW SHARP: No laurels for 90 losses; .500 a must next season
- GENE GUIDI: More moves needed for better ‘05
- Rob Parker: Tigers would benefit most by upgrading their pitching, defense
And we’ll leave you on a positive note: Rodriguez says he sees progress. And so do we.
