The NHL schedule is out. And the Wings would start the season on the road (Oct. 14 at Edmonton), but the talk continues to center around work stoppage possibilities. Or at least the writing does.
I hate to throw out the condemnation implicit in “self-fulfilling prophecy” but I see very little background to support all the phrases like “all indications suggest we’re in for a long lockout.”
The collective bargaining agreement expires Sept. 15 and apparently the two sides are so far apart (pretty sure the sticking point is a salary cap, but no one writes about what the issues are, just like politics) that it would take a miracle for the season to start on time.
Point for the News: Hadn’t seen this story before. Pavel Datsyuk has a deal to play in Moscow if things don’t get going on time.
