First harvest

These pieces of lettuce -- some leafy, some romaine -- are the first edible benefits of our gardening project. They formed the base for tonight's salad.

A few other photos from my morning walk around the garden:

The second box.

A close-up of the giant squash bloom in the second box. (At least, I'm pretty sure it's one of the squashes. Must consult the planting planning grid. Maybe I'll even get around to posting that one of these days.)

And, finally, the third box, which gets a little more shade than the other two. That may become important when planning next year's crops.
