Backyard update

Our compass plant's first bloom of the year has opened up. It faced the other way last year; I don't know if that means anything. Just behind it, you can see others coming. What you can't see, is there are other stalks developing too. Oh, and our gardening project is taking is final major step.

We've got four plants that are going to get pretty big -- two squashes, a melon and a tomato. So, there's a vertical support system we're rigging up. (And yes, that's dinner grilling in the background.)

From here, you can see that all three boxes have some sprouts coming along. (Box #4 we haven't planted yet.) I took this before tying the nylon netting on the second frame.

And lastly, a shot of black-eyed susan with a bug that I neglected to post earlier.
