#2: The nest is empty

I didn't want to scare you, but yesterday, when I got home, there was much more squawking than usual, and louder than usual. Turns out one of the little robins had gotten stuck in one of our window wells.
There'd be some fluttering and a little thud, then one of the adults would come, presumably shout encouragement, and fly off, by way of example I suppose. That didn't seem to be working, so I took a rake -- nice long wood handle, somwhat branch-like I figured -- and angled it out of the well, hoping the little guy/girl would hop up it or at least use it as a guide.
It was pretty quiet by the time I went to bed, so I figured maybe all was well. Turns out, the youngster slept down there. When I went out this morning, there was a little bird sitting on the rake, still in the window well. So I slowly lifted the rake and the bird hardly moved. Until the rake cleared the wall. Then he hopped off, hopped onto one of the empty garden boxes, flapped the wings a bit (which I'm betting were sore from the semi-frantic fluttering and whacking against metal), and headed off around the corner, where somebody was calling him. I think they hung out in the sand cherry in the front yard for a while, but I didn't see them around much tonight.
I think we'll leave the nest in the tree, just in case they want to come back or use it again next year. Seems like it was a good home.
#3: Clash of "art"

Two things going in downtown -- a theme bar and some modern sculpture on the side of a parking garage. Some say it clashes. Well, at least its colorful.

The nest story was very traumatic for me. Although I am impressed that you helped out with a rake.
