Do you like what you're doing?

Anyway, back to the subject raised in the title.
This isn't a professional question, though I suppose that plays into it. It's more about is life arranged the way you'd like. And why not?
For instance, recently I've noticed that I really like breakfast. Workday breakfast, with its hints of fruit and a little hurrying, is totally different from leisurely weekend breakfast with its lingering over eggs or pancakes or French-pressed coffee. O.k., it's almost always the coffee. Having time to enjoy your coffee, I think, is a sign that you've reached a certain rung on the ladder of civilized people.
Two other signs of being civilized: reading and planning.
Currently, I'm supposed to be reading about gardening because we're planning a garden.
Instead, I've been reading the Internet and exploring Google's Reader software, if only because it helps me sort feeds and highlight items and make that new box of other people's recent posts in the bottom corner of the blog's front page.
The other thing I'm reading more is cookbooks, because I'm now in charge of menu planning around here. Which might mean we're going to make tarts more often. Like this one from last weekend:
Over Thanksgiving, I wondered why modern Americans don't spend more time with food. Because food is fun. Food fills the house with interesting aromas. And good food is more fun to eat. So we're spending more time, and trying to enjoy that time, planning our food, shopping for it and even cleaning up from it on a regular basis. And we like it.
- One last thing I finally got around to reading and wanted to link to: Cities as Applications by Khoi Vihn
