Our first night in Sonoma

Our trip got off to a rocky start in Dayton, getting bounced between U.S. Airways and United counters, told our Chicago flight would probably be affected by weather and then routed through Philadelphia. So, I get an Inquirer instead of a Tribune. Not to mention a cheesesteak.
After all the travel excitement, we arrived "after hours" at the bed and breakfast but got checked in o.k., found the number for our chosen restaurant and found they still had a table for us, despite missing our reservation time by a good hour.
Turns out that on Wednesday evening in Sonoma, that doesn't seem to be a problem.
There were plenty of tables available at the Meritage Restaurant and Oyster Bar. The wait staff was more than eager to please and the atmosphere was quite pleasant, the kind of place that makes you wonder why there isn't one of these in every town.
Since it was part of the name, I felt compelled to try some oysters and settled on "Casino" - with breadcrumbs, pancetta and parmesan. Very good. For the entree, a seabass with mixed vegatables, mashed potatoes and an avacado sauce, somewhat reminiscent of a dish I had on the honeymoon, so perhaps seabass will become some sort of once a year thing. Or maybe not.
Jen had a risotto with clams that went over well, then finished with a dessert of (well, I'm sure we had a dessert, but neither of us can remember it). The Graff Family white wine was very good, but I don't remember if was a charonnay (don't think so) or pinot something. Don't think it was fume blanc either, but maybe we'll figure it out.
We had driven to the restaurant even though it was just down the street from the main square and it turns out we were only a three-block walk from the square, but it was getting late and who knew.
