Arrival in Venice
I've made it to Europe...
Jet-lag really wasn't all that bad, though I was able to sleep on the plane, that probably helped. Despite the high school group watching Ashton Kutcher and friends in "Just Married".
Personally, I should have gotten some Euros beforehand so I could do some things in the Frankfurt airport.
I guess it's just odd walking around with no money. I had plenty of dollars and coinage, but it was all borderline useless. Or at least I didn't want to hand a European airport attendant dollars without having local currency as a backup.
But when they served breaksfast on the plane, I was ready for it. And when lunchtime hit I felt like that too: a lovely cheese sandwhich served on the flight to Venice did the trick.
Our accomodations are being provided by the Hotel Buon Pesce (Good fish, I guess) which is right on the coast of the island Lido, which also lays claim to the beach on a gulf of the Adriatic. Apparently, this is the major beach for all of Venice. Reminds me a lot of any Great Lake, although there is a lot more sand and an incredible number of cabins.
Dinner, which I suppose would be my first truly European meal, was at a lovely restaurant in Lido, which I believe it the town name as well.
It's muggy. I suppose all that water will do that.
