Welcome to The Hive

Ah, the frivolity of fantasy football. We'll try to help you keep up.

Yes, we're trying this silliness again. Not fantasy football. A website about fantasy football. But it gives us practice. So enjoy these notes about the 2004 Bees.

Bees put up Perfect 10s

The Bees maximized their scoring, putting up 10 touchdowns and notching their 10th win as the regular season came to an end.

Peyton Manning (IND) again led the way, throwing for 425 yards and three touchdowns, but rookie wideout Lee Evans (BUF) scored two TDs of his own and finished with 110 yards to spark a struggling receiving corps.

Running backs Curtis Martin (NYJ) and LaDainian Tomlinson (SD) again had solid performances, each scoring two touchdowns and finishing with 154 and 130 total yards respectively.

Donte Stallworth (NO) contributed 44 yards and a touchdown. Andre Johnson (HOU) didn't find paydirt (the only major contributor who didn't), but he did rack up 131 yards to join the others in double figures.

The bench did not find the end zone.

The victory knocked the Triple D's out of the Blue Division race and most likley sends them to the bottom of the wild card standings, meaning the two teams would square off again next week.

Bees suffer another non-division loss

Titans 134, Bees 109 - In one of the dangerous scenarios for the Bees, Peyton Manning (IND) threw three touchdowns to one of the opposition's receivers and, for the second week in a row, LaDainian Tomlinson (SD) was the only other significant contribution while a good wide receiver performance got left on the bench.

Manning did throw for three other TDs while posting his fourth 40-point day of the season. Tomlinson ran for two scores and finished with 103 yards. The hometown Bengals (CIN) scored a touchdown with two interceptions and three sacks. (Nevermind the giving up 48 points.)

But it wasn't enough as the Titans, led by Marvin Harrison's 3 TDs and 127 yards (more than half of Manning's yardage total), finished with the week's top point total.

Andre Johnson (HOU) had an off-week with only 34 yards to go with the Bees only other touchdown.

On the bench, Lee Evans (BUF) had his best game of the season with 85 yards and a touchdown. Might have to start putting him in there.

Big Two key Bees over Sweeps

Bees 89, Sweeps 73 - Despite three goose eggs, the Bees Big Two provided enough to lift them to victory. Peyton Manning (IND) threw four touchdown passes and LaDainian Tomlinson (SD) ran for one while amassing 173 yards.

They were joined by single digit performances (and no scoring) by Curtis Martin (NYJ), Andre Johnson (HOU), Josh Brown (SEA) and the hometown Bengals (CIN).

Contributing nothing to the cause were Peerless Price (ATL), Brandon Lloyd (SF) and Ken Dilger (TB). That's right, no points from any of them.

On the bench, Donte Stallworth (NO) decided to have a huge day, hauling in a 30-yard TD while racking up 122 total yards, his best day of the season. Oops.

And just wanted to make sure to get this score out there from last week: Bees 137, Soda Pops 123.

Oh snap! Manning crackles as Bees thump Pops

Peyton Manning (IND) went all silly with another five touchdowns and 320 yards to lead the Bees to a league-high 137 and a victory over the Blue Divison-leading Soda Pops.

Curtis Martin (NYJ) contributed to showdown week with two early TD runs and 124 total yards. Brandon Lloyd (SF) chipped in a late TD catch and 62 yards.

For the second straight week, a free agent tight end pickup scored a touchdown as Ken Dilger (TB) scored from 22 yards out to go with 51 yards on the day.

Wrapping things up, Josh Brown (SEA) kicked four field goals and the Bengals (CIN) picked off three passes and recorded five sacks for 27 points worth of defense and special teams.

Replacement running back Anthony Thomas (CHI) finished with 82 yards but could not find the end zone. Andre Johnson (HOU) was also kept away from paydirt and finished with 73 yards.

The rest of the receiving corps continued its struggles. Peerless Price (ATL) tallied only 20 yards, while the bench of Donte Stallworth (NO) and Lee Evans (BUF) were even worse (17 and 15 respectively). And while such a position might need shoring up for a playoff run, it's doubtful the team would jepordize the rest of its productivity to save the #3 receiver position.

Set up a show down

Bees 107, Hitmen 78 - Peyton Manning (IND) threw for four touchdowns and the Cincinnati Bengals (CIN) forced five turnovers, setting up a matchup of the league's 7-2 teams next week when the Bees visit the Blue Division-leading Soda Pops.

The Bees, currently the top team in the wild card race one game behind the Prairie Dogs, also got touchdowns from LaDainian Tomlinson (SD) - who takes off next week's showdown because of a bye - Brandon Lloyd (SF) and newly acquired tight end Jeb Putzier (DEN).

The rest of the team kind of disappointed, and with LT off next week, some of them will be counted upon heavily. Curtis Martin (NYJ) and Andre Johnson (HOU), the two stalwarts of the season up to this point, combined for only 95 yards. Donte Stallworth (NO) did not have a catch and will probably be inactive next week.

On the bench, Lee Evans (BUF) had one of his better games with 64 yards and a touchdown, production that would have vaulted the Bees over the Monkeys, Dogs and Pops and into second place for the week. Free agent running back Anthony Thomas (CHI) - who will be counted on to fill in for LT - scored twice while piling up 115 yards. If he can repeat that performance, management will be very pleased.
