Saturday: Into the sky
The view from above is filled with blue
We took out some snorkeling equipment in the morning just to look around the swimming area of the beach near the hotel. Saw all kinds of fish and shells and even a stingray hiding not too far off shore. The flippers were more helpful than I expected and more difficult to walk in.
Despite growing up around the Great Lakes, I never thought much of looking underwater. Now, I'm thinking that if I'm going to spend any appreciable time around a lake, the mask, tube and flippers would be an inexpensive investment and an interesting activity.
After most of the day sitting and reading on the beach again, we decided to go parasailing in the afternoon, with the sun out to sea so we could see the island better.
One of the most amazing sights was actually the various shades of blue visible from above. The island view was o.k., but directly below was all the various depths and colors and depths and concentrations of seaweed below.
For dinner, we selected steaks at the newly opened Seabreeze Grill. (It hadn't been open earlier in the week, but apparently as the volume of guests increased, or staff became available, they opened it more often.)
After taking a few more pictures at sunset, we settled in for another candlelight dinner, much quieter than the entertainment-laden buffet.
